This is a blog for all of you in Okinawa or on your way to
Okinawa. Most of us are connected, in some capacity, to the United
States military. As such we are short-term guests of the island. At
Okinawa Hai!, we gather resources and questions and thoughts we have
about making life on this island as sunny as the sunny weather. This is
different than a website because it is interactive. I write, you write,
he writes and she writes. This is for all of us here. It is a
community of folks in the same boat helping each other out.
- If you are sponsoring a family, this could be the ground level for them as they prepare to move here.
- If you are moving here, this could be a way to get relevant information, ask for information that is not here and communicate with people who are in Okinawa and probably had the very same questions and concerns as you do right now.
- If you are here and trying to get your bearings, this is a place to connect with people and places and activities that tickle your fancy.
- If you have been here for a spell and are looking to extend yourself in a few new directions, this is your place.
So here's how it works.
Every
day one of the seven editors posts in their category. Starting on
Monday when Lan posts in TO LIVE straight through to Sunday when
Kimberly brings us something in TO PARENT. The horizontal red line at
the top of the page shows all the categories in the order they are
brought to you. Scroll over each category for a peek inside. We've got
you covered all week, friends.
The transition to life
here can be challenging and rewarding and lonely and fulfilling and
every which way but up. Let's give a hand to each other as we navigate
through our precious Okinawan days, shall we?

Wow, you have quite a bit of information here about what military service members can look to experience on Okinawa!

Meredith says that she has a friend that has all that info and is going to get her to post it. I have been waiting also. We have heard that Pizza in the Sky is the best pizza on island!

Hello Pizza on the Sky-ers. Just posted directions on Pizza in the Sky. Check 'em out in the "To Eat" restaurants category if they're not still on the front page. More Pizza info to come!

I want to place a ad on your site. I have a cleaning business and would like to list it.
I have talk to Lan about it today but I don't know how to contact her threw email.

Rebecca,
I think Meredith is actually the one who handles the ads for the Hai Flyer. Either way you can send your information to
okinawa_hai@yahoo.com
In future if you need to contact one of the editors to submit a post or something they can be contacted through the "who's hai?" page.

Hi,
When I was going to move to Oki, a friend of mine told me to look into modeling for my kids. She had previously been staioned in Japan, and had a daughter that did a little modeling.
So now I'm curious about it, does anyone know anything about modeling for kids or modeling agencies?
Thanks,

Hi I found your link on one of the blogs I browse, interesting stuff. Although not planning on relocating to Oki - just have an student residing in our home from there and befriended others from there in the past through travel and friends.
Keep the site going. My father was military but stationing in Sasebo, Japan and long since retired. I can imagine the experience for you and your children who may be attending a Japanese school instead of one on base. (that's a leap of faith)
Regards,
