A couple of weeks ago I received the above invitation from my friend (and next door neighbor) Michela. She throws the most creative parties I've ever seen; I couldn't wait to see what she had up her sleeve this time! Upon reading the invite I knew I was in for a treat:
Join me for a PCS - Potluck, Cocktails and Shopping
I've been going through my closets and cupboards and have a bunch of
things to get rid of before I pack out!
Bring an appetizer or dessert to share,
I'll supply the beverages.
One night only, shop till you drop for FREE in the following departments....
Pantry/Kitchen
House Wares
Ladies Accessories
Outdoor/Patio
Jewelry Cosmetics & Fragrance
Special Occasion
Shoes
Electronics
Automotive
Please note this is an exclusive shopping event, only those on the guest list may attend.
(teen daughters are welcome)
Which is what made Michela's "PCS" idea so spactacular. She found a way to downsize without going through the heartache of seeing her treasures reduced to rubbish, and she blessed her friends in the process!
Take a look at some of the pictures from the party:

If your home has a stocked bar, this is the perfect way to polish off those half empty bottles.
S = Shopping!Since Michela is known for her elegant and trendy style, we were all eager to see what she was sharing...
You can bet I'll be throwing a PCS party before my next move. How about you?

That is the coolest idea EVER!
I love it.
LOVE this idea, I am definitely going to do this when we eventually PCS. Thanks for posting this Dasha (and thank you Michela!)
Michela is so creative – she took a practical idea and made it fun while sharing it with her friends!!!! There are so many different ways you could approach this idea and I have heard of people doing clothes swap parties – you bring a bag of clothes and you leave with a bag of clothes. I would have never thought of doing it with kitchen and yard stuff though!!!
I also got to see the end result of Michela’s great idea – both Dasha and her daughter looked fabulous yesterday in their “new” outfits!!! Michela truly does have grea taste!!!! Thanks for sharing this fun idea with us!!!!
What a fantastic idea – and a real memory maker too. LOVE it!
Such an awesome idea! So gonna copycat! I was just gonna give stuff that i thought my friends would want but way better idea to let them pick….that way they arent having to get rid of my stuff later!
That’s a cool idea, plus you can say goodbye on top of getting rid of excess. One question, though, is that base housing?
Renee, yes, that is Kishaba housing on Foster. I’ve been begging her to fill out the “To Live” questionnaire before she moves – her house is so gorgeous on the inside, it would inspire lots of people to give housing a try!
Such a great idea! I’m keeping that in mind! Its a fun way to get rid of stuff that others might want before you throw it out or ship it off to the thrift stores!!
Dasha, it would be awesome to see some pics. Looking at that kitchen with the tile on the walls I thought that it had to be in town housing. Is that the new housing? Is that the Senior SNCO housing? And does it have carpet? Sorry about the questions. We are coming in a month and I am so curious as to the housing.
Renee, I don’t know about it being “new” or not – our houses are mouldering concrete hulks that were recently painted on the outside… perhaps that classifies them as new?
But yes, it is senior SNCO, some have carpet (mine does) some do not – Michela’s has gorgeous wood floors. If you want more info (or pics!) send me an email [email protected]
Renee – Dasha and I have the same style house. I did “To Live” questionnaire when we first moved here. You can see pics here:

I do have more furniture and “stuff” in the house now that we have been here eight months.
Thanks Charity and Dasha. I had seen your pics before, Charity and I remember when I first saw them I thought, “Wow, everyone says the houses over there are small, but this looks quite spacious. As you can tell, I am at the point where I’m REALLY anxious. LOL! I’m usually not so high strung. LOL!
